A Student of the Hope – Children of Ukraine Foundation, Mykola Okhrimenko, held a seminar for future participants of the international YouLEAD USA program.

On February 12, a special online meeting was held for teenagers who dream of international opportunities and leadership development. The seminar was conducted by Mykola Okhrimenko, a student of our foundation, a graduate of the Hope – Children of Ukraine English language courses, and a winner of the international YouLEAD USA program.

Thanks to his perseverance, strong motivation, and English language skills, Mykola became a participant in a prestigious leadership program in the United States (Minnesota). During the meeting, he shared his personal experience of going through the competitive selection process and explained how to prepare a strong and competitive application.

What was discussed during the seminar

Participants learned:

* how to properly apply for the YouLEAD program
* what helped Mykola become a winner
* which mistakes to avoid when completing the application
* why English proficiency opens real international opportunities

Special attention was given to practical advice on writing a motivation letter and preparing for an interview. Mykola emphasized that success in international programs is a combination of systematic preparation, self-belief and a proactive attitude.

English as a tool for opportunities

For our foundation, this story is particularly meaningful. Mykola studied at the Hope – Children of Ukraine English language courses and today his example proves that investing in the education of children and teenagers brings real results.

For him, English became not just a school subject, but a powerful tool that opened the door to international experience, new connections and leadership growth.

An opportunity for new participants

During the seminar, it was also announced that applications for this year’s YouLEAD program are already open. Young people aged 16-18 have the opportunity to apply until February 21.

Even those participants who have not yet reached the required age gained valuable insights for the future and understood how to begin their preparation today.

Mykola Okhrimenko’s story is an example of how an ordinary Ukrainian teenager, through perseverance, support, and education, can achieve an international level of success.

We are proud of our students and continue to support young people in dreaming big and taking action today.
