A Representative of the Hope Foundation Participated in the Council of Europe Training on Human Rights and Trauma-Informed Approach.

In May 2025, Iryna Lutsenko, Head of Educational Programs at the charitable foundation Hope – Children of Ukraine, took part in a five-day training organized by the Council of Europe on “Human Rights and the Trauma-Informed Approach.” The event took place in Lviv – the European Youth Capital.
The training brought together female leaders and representatives of NGOs and youth centers from across Ukraine. The focus of the program was working with internally displaced persons (IDPs), children and youth from temporarily occupied territories (TOT), and those returning from abroad.

During the training, participants explored:
– how to ensure access to education and fundamental human rightу for children and youth from TOT,
– how to integrate a trauma-informed approach into everyday work with various target groups,
– how to adapt youth programs to the new realities of war and population displacement.
Why is this important for Hope?
Hope – Children of Ukraine implements humanitarian and educational initiatives for children affected by war. We offer:
– English language courses,
– psychological counseling for children and teenagers,
– career guidance programs.
Iryna’s participation in the Council of Europe program strengthens our team’s capacity to apply a trauma-informed approach across all foundation activities. It enhances the emotional safety of our students and creates a trusting environment for their personal development.

“This training gave me not only new knowledge but also a deeper understanding of how to work with children who have experienced psychological trauma due to the war. From now on, our team will even more intentionally implement support practices based on respect for the dignity and rights of every child,” – says Iryna Lutsenko.
We sincerely thank the Council of Europe for the opportunity to learn and grow alongside changemakers.
We continue our mission to ensure that every child in Ukraine has access to quality education, emotional support, and care.
