The history of Hope-Children of Ukraine spans over three years, evolving from a local educational project into a major charitable foundation dedicated to supporting children who have suffered hardships due to the war in Ukraine.
But how did it all start?
Let’s hear from Arthur Olshansky, founder and chief inspirer of Hope-Children of Ukraine.

What did the starting point of Hope-Children of Ukraine look like?
It all began with a sincere desire to bring positive changes to the world and do something truly meaningful for the new generation. For me, the expression “”Children are our future”” is not just words; I believe that giving children better chances in life is the best investment. In early 2021, Klik Solutions and our local branch Klik Ukraine launched a pilot charity project focused on helping children from low-income families and orphans learn English, an essential precondition for better educational and career opportunities. The first run of the project was held in an offline format in the city of Boryspil, Kyiv region, for over 10 children, and it received plenty of positive feedback. So, we extended and expanded it, allowing more young Ukrainians to access free educational opportunities. Over the years, the project has grown and transformed significantly.

Why specifically Ukrainian children?
It’s very simple: I was born in Ukraine and moved to America with my parents at the age of six. I have always felt a very strong connection to my homeland and take every opportunity to contribute to Ukraine’s and Ukrainians’ prosperity.

How has the war in Ukraine impacted the project’s evolution?
After the war started, our educational project transformed into a larger social initiative, Hope-Children of Ukraine, which provides comprehensive support, including educational projects, personal development, psychological support, and humanitarian aid. Many of our students fled the war with their families and ended up in environments where English became their primary means of communication. Thanks to our language courses, they were more prepared to face such challenges. Moreover, staying in touch with their friends from the project kept their spirits uplifted.

How big is the project team now?
Three years ago, the project team consisted of three people. Now, we have ten team members and dozens of supporters and contributors who empower us to do more and more!

Can you share some short-term plans for Hope-Children of Ukraine?
We believe that every child has the right to education, growth, and a chance for a bright future. At Hope-Children of Ukraine, we are actively working to provide this chance to as many children as possible. We believe in the power of kindness to change this world for the better.
